When a dispute erupts on a project it often harms the
working relationships. A turn-around partnering session can help resolve the dispute,
begin to heal the relationships, and get the project back on track. If a dispute occurs
during the first quarter or half of the project, it can significantly jeopardize the
completion of the project, which is still a long way down the road. Project stakeholders
begin to push responsibilities, and blame, on others. But the project must still be built,
whether or not there is a war going on.A turn-around partnering can work both if your
project was originally partnered, or if it was not. Sometimes the dispute has already been
resolved, but the relationship is poor as a result. If the dispute has not been resolved,
it can be worked on as part of the session as part of developing a dispute resolution
process. A turn-around partnering helps set the stage for the project's completion without
hostility.
ORGMETRICS has worked on
several projects where conflict and disputes had developed. The partnering process brought
everyone back to the table to talk, work out differences, and create solutions.
Remember, the project has to be completed, one way or another. It can either be a war
zone, or a peace treaty can be created. Turn-around partnering works to do just that.
