Partnering Resources

Disputes cost the construction industry millions of dollars each year. Project schedules are extended, money is unnecessarily spent and opportunities are lost. Partnering offers project owners, architect-engineers, construction managers, contractors, and subcontractors a cooperative, team-based approach to eliminate – or at least reduce – conflicts, litigation, and claims. This page lists various resources to support you partnering efforts.

Definition of Partnering

These pages provide a definition of partnering, an explanation of why it works, and some statistics of the results achieved by partnering projects. It also contains information on various types of partnering. Click here.

Typical Contract Language

It is important that your intention or desire to partner your project is made know and agreed to by your potential partners. Often language calling for a "partnering approach" is included in the pre-bid documents, qualification documents, specifications, or contract. It might also be included in a letter from one stakeholder to the others encouraging the partnering approach. Click here to see some examples of partnering language taken from several public agencies and large companies.
